Aquila

  • Heatshare Provides financial assistance, counseling, and referrals to other utility funding sources when a household shows they are unable to make their monthly utility bill payment.

Black Hills Energy
HeatShare
Customer and employee contributions are matched by the utility. The Salvation Army administers the energy assistance funds through their HeatShare program. To find out more about the program contact your local Salvation Army or call 1-800-699-3439 ext. 5885 for assistance. 

Hastings Utility 
Share Some Warmth
Funds, collected by Hastings Utility and administered by the Salvation Army, are distributed for utility bills from December 1st to April 30th. Eligibility includes: age 60 or above and/or handicapped (special hardship or crisis situations may be considered); delinquent utility bill subject to cutoff; and applicant is unable to qualify under other governmental assistance programs.

Pennies for Power
Customer donations assist households facing financial hardship who are unable to pay their electric bills. Eligible customers can get assistance once every 12 months.

Persons interested in applying for either energy assistance program can call the American Red Cross Heartland Chapter at 402-343-7755, or toll free, 1-888-890-9569 CST to apply for assistance. An automated message will detail the application process.

Customer contributions are available to any person(s), family unit, group, organization, charity or like organization for charitable purposes. Applications are available at the Niobrara Valley Electric office or online.

Omaha Public Power District
Energy Assistance Program (EAP)
EAP was established in 1988 to help disadvantaged families pay energy-related expenses primarily during the spring, summer and fall months. Such expenses might include higher-than-normal summer cooling bills or emergency equipment repairs. Funds for the program come from customer donations and newsletter advertising revenues. The Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross administers the program.
