Northeast Utilities Foundation Donates $1 Million for Heating Aid

November 29 -- The Northeast Utilities (NU) Foundation will donate $1 million this winter to support fuel assistance programs in Connecticut, western Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The funds will be available to families in need residing in communities served by NU's operating companies.

"These funds will support the region's network of fuel assistance programs and fuel banks who are themselves struggling to help families facing an energy emergency this winter," said Charles W. Shivery, the president, chairman and chief executive officer of Northeast Utilities.

Funding will be made available to:

  • Operation Fuel in Connecticut, to be disbursed in communities served by Connecticut Light & Power and Yankee Gas. For more information, call 211 throughout Connecticut.
  • The Good Neighbor Energy Fund in Massachusetts, to be disbursed in communities served by Western Massachusetts Electric Company. For more information, visit http://www.magoodneighbor.org/.
  • Neighbor Helping Neighbor Fund in New Hampshire, to be disbursed in communities served by Public Service of New Hampshire.  For more information, visit http://www.nhnfund.org/.
