AZ Receives $16.5 Million in Additional LIHEAP Funds

May 29, 2020 – Approximately $16.5 million in additional funding has been released for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in Arizona, according to the Arizona Department of Economic Security. The funding comes from the CARES Act fund, in result of the coronavirus pandemic.

A total of $24.6 million in funding has been released to Arizona. The $16.5 for LIHEAP funds will provide bill assistance and home-energy improvements for low-income households. The other $8.1 million released is for AZ’s Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), to provide assistance for low-income families with unemployment assistance, housing payments and more.

The funding has been released to aid low-income families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and will be distributed to Community Action Agency providers throughout Arizona.
