AL LIHEAP Offers Disaster Relief CARES Program Assistance

January 22, 2021 – The Etowah Community Action Agency in Alabama is now scheduling appointments for low-income households to apply for disaster-relief funds through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) CARES Program.

Eligibility for this program includes being a first-time LIHEAP household. This means the household must not have been awarded LIHEAP benefits in the past. Qualifying households may only receive these funds one time during the program duration.

Eligibility requirements for the program include a household having one of the following: documentation proving a household member has contracted the virus, check stubs to prove loss of income due to loss of hours or bank statements and receipts showing an increase in expenses.
