Georgia LIHEAP Participants Receive ‘Heat Smart’ Kits

February 8, 2019 – Georgia’s Overview Inc., is providing families participating in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), with Heat Smart Kits to help them lower their monthly heating bill. Each kit contains a heavy wool blanket, an energy-saving tip sheet, stickers to remind people to lower their thermostat while sleeping, and weather stripping for drafts.

“These blanket kits help them to be able to lower their thermostats by providing an extra layer of cover for their bed and weather stripping for their home,” said Wanda Addeo, Overview Inc. Executive Director. “Our clients are excited to receive the blanket because it gives them added warmth and the ability to lower their thermostat, resulting in lower monthly heating expense.”

Each kit is valued at $14.50 and more than 500,000 of them have been distributed to low income families since the Heat Smart program began.
