Illinois LIHEAP and PIPP Begin Oct 1

September 12, 2018 – The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) will begin October 1 for eligible residents in Winnebago and Boone Counties in Illinois. The LIHEAP benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of the eligible households.

Residents can begin calling to make appointments on the following dates: Oct. 1 for households with a senior (60 and older) and households with a member receiving Social Security Disability, Nov. 1 for disconnected households and households with children under 6 years old, and Dec. 3 for all other low-income households.

The City of Rockford Human Services Department provides handouts at their local offices that include LIHEAP and PIPP program information, eligibility criteria, site lists and call-in schedules. These handouts are available at the local Human Services offices in Rockford and Belvidere. To learn more, visit rockfordil.gov
