AZ Workshops Educate Low Income Communities on Sustainable Energy

December 6, 2019 – Workshops in the Phoenix, Arizona area are available for low-income communities to attend, providing education on energy conservation topics. The workshops provided by Chipsa, include educating low-income attendees on how to interpret their energy bills.

Part of the initiative in these discussions is to include low-income, Spanish-speaking households in discussions related to energy conservation, including educating them on charges that may appear on their utility bills. The first event educates attendees on how “peak-hour pricing plans” work, and presenters provide energy-saving suggestions.

“An electricity bill can feel like a serious financial burden beyond a family’s control,” said Vianey Olivarria, a Chipsa representative, “The electricity bill is something everybody faces, everybody has to pay one. It’s not always easy to understand what you’re paying for.”

Chipsa is providing two more workshops in December and aims to host more in 2020.

This is the first workshop that has been hosted by Chipsa.
