Low-Income Rate Assistance

Good Neighbor Program
This program provides immediate and long-term financial assistance to income-qualified customers that are senior citizens age 65 and older, families with children under the age of five, and disabled persons living independently. It is designed to help qualified customers during the peak heating and cooling months of the year when the need is greatest. The program offers: a 25% credit to electric service each month as funds are available.Contact the Capital Area Community Action Agency at 222-2043 for applications and information.

Low-Income Energy Efficiency

  • Good Neighbor Program
    This program provides immediate and long-term financial assistance to income-qualified customers that are senior citizens age 65 and older, families with children under the age of five, and disabled persons living independently. The program offers the following weatherization and efficiency measures:

    • Free priority energy audit (required for bill assistance credit)
    • Free ceiling insulation (up to $500)
    • Heating and cooling system duct repair, coil cleaning and refrigerant leak repair (up to $500)
    • Hot water leak repair (up to $500)

  • In 1992 the Florida legislature passed the William E. Sadowski Affordable Housing Act. Funding comes from a portion of documentary stamp taxes on deeds and supports two programs that supplement the state's WAP: State Housing Initiatives Partnership, which funds weatherization measures; and the Low-Income Emergency Home Repair Program, which funds emergency and energy-related home repairs.
