Maryland State and Local Funds

  • State contribution for emergency assistance grants.
  • Local energy tax dollars are given in a rebate to low-income households in three counties.
  • Low-income households of adult disabled persons are paid monthly with Transitional Emergency, Medical, and Housing Assistance (TEMHA) funds, of which $40 is designated to energy assistance.
  • Maryland is one of ten states participating in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a coalition working to limit carbon dioxide pollution through a cap and trade system. Per state legislation, energy assistance may receive up to 50 percent of RGGI funds, about $42.9 million in 2010.
